The best things to do near Days Inn Kendal

18 October 2018

Situated between two of Britain’s best national parks, the market town of Kendal is the perfect place to stay and explore some of the UK’s most beautiful countryside.

It’s time to stock up on the world-famous mint cake and go exploring! Here are three of the best things to do near Days Inn Kendal.

Lake District

The Lake District is England’s largest national park and considered by many to be one of the most beautiful places in Britain. Whether you’re into history or thrill-seeking adventures, the Lake District has something for everyone to enjoy.

To make the most of a short stay, take a trip to Bowness-on-Windermere, a popular tourist town on the lake. For the little ones accompanying you, explore The World of Beatrix Potter, an interactive exhibition which brings the much-loved creations of Beatrix Potter to life. You can also enjoy a tea party with Peter Rabbit if you book ahead!

For water-based activities, Coniston Boating Centre offers a variety of boats to hire for a day on the water. For the adrenaline junkie, check out the range of climbing and abseiling activities the Lake District has to offer.

Check out the Lake District website to keep up-to-date with events, such as guided walks that you can join, or, visit their maps page to have an adventure of your own.

Yorkshire Dales

To the east of Days Inn Kendal is the Yorkshire Dales, and there are a range of places to explore without venturing too far.

A thirty-minute drive south of Kendal will see you at one of the Dale’s most popular tourist attractions, the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail.

For another short walk accessible for all, try Killington New Bridge, which takes you around the local nature reserve.

Why not try and conquer the Peaks and take part in the Three Peaks Challenge? Alternatively, the Aye Gill Pike walking route offers a less challenging way to catch a glimpse of the Peaks from the ground.

Kendal Town Centre

For a quiet, relaxing afternoon after a full day of exploring the national parks, take a trip into the Lake District town of Kendal. Those who live in the area are proud of their artistic heritage, so immerse yourself in their local culture.

The Kendal Museum is a top choice, displaying exhibitions on world wildlife collections and local Lake District natural history. If it’s an adventurous activity you’re after, check out Kendal’s climbing wall!

And, could you really visit Kendal and not pick up a mint cake? Of course not! Thankfully, you’ll find them in many of Kendal’s local shops.

Both national parks have such a wide range of things to do, that spending your time in Kendal at just one of them could fill up entire weeks’ worth of fun-packed activities!

Don’t forget to book your stay at Days Inn Kendal for the perfect hub for exploring the national parks and natural beauty of the North West!
