Visit the Lake District this Summer

With August being the peak time to take British family holidays, and the Lake District being a popular choice for staycations, we’ve decided to look at just why you should visit this beautiful part of England this summer. The largest of all National Parks, the Lake District is host to England’s highest mountain, its deepest lake and a completely unique landscape brimming with exciting attractions and activities for all the family. Our Days Inn Kendal hotel is situated to the south of the national park, putting you in a fantastic position should you wish to take a holiday here.

Here are just some of the reasons why you should visit the Lake District this summer:

Beautiful Walks

The Lake District is famed for its natural beauty and this means that the walks available really are superb. Although the weather has been unpredictable this summer, when the weather is nice, you can expect some breath-taking views. Whether you want to look up at the mountains or be up there for yourself, there are walks for every ability.

Family Activities

During the summer holidays, the Lake District is full of exciting events and activities for families to get involved in. In August at Brockhole Lake District Visitor Centre, children can enjoy adventure days and outdoor activities, as well as plenty of indoor fun on rainy days. Visit Coniston to hire boats, take part in the Windermere relay at the World of Beatrix Potter attraction, see animals at the South Lakes Wild Animal Park or stay closer to our hotel in Kendal and enjoy the excellent range of films and theatre performances currently showing.

Running from the 31st of August until the 2nd of September, Mintfest is Kendal's very own International Festival of Street Arts, and a favourite with our guests. Organised by Lakes Alive, the festival returns for its 6th year, showcasing a number of amazing acts and performances in dance, comedy, music and drama.

British Inspiration

We are all still revelling in Great Britain’s recent sporting achievements, and did you know that the Lake District has been the inspiration of many sailors, cyclists and athletes, as well as a number of famous English writers? Take in the spectacular scenery that allowed these athletes and writers to achieve so much and enjoy being a part of Team Great Britain! Book our Kendal hotels and plan your Lake District break.
