With the kids back to school, you’ll most likely be looking to plan your next family break. This summer, we welcomed many happy families to the city of Chester who all came to explore the rich heritage, top visitor attractions and attend some of the exciting events that have taken place. Below our some of their favourite attractions and days out:
Situated at Cheshire Oaks shopping outlet, the Blue Planet Aquarium boasts over 100 living displays and is home to Europe’s largest collection of sharks! Visit the Coral Cave to see an array of tropical fish, journey to the Amazon river and discover an abundance of freshwater life, and make sure you catch a show in the Aquatheatre.
The UK’s number one zoo is always popular with our guests, being just 10 minutes away. View over 8000 wonderful animals and 400 different species at this award winning attraction that welcomes people from all over the world; walk around the stunning gardens, enjoy daily animal talks and let the children go wild in the adventure play areas.
Grosvenor park, situated in the city centre, is home to some beautiful gardens and its grounds play host to the Summer Music Festival each year. In the park you’ll also find the Miniature Railway that operates steam and diesel hauled trains on a ¼ mile circuit around the lake in the park. There’s also a putting green, a café and plenty of places for a picnic stop.
You could spend an afternoon or while away a day taking some of the excellent tours on offer. Explore the city on foot with a Roman themed walking tour, relax on a lazy river cruise or jump aboard an open top bus tour. One of the best tours available most interesting tours available is the ghost tour; take a night time journey through the streets of Chester and learn all about supernatural events lying in the city’s past.
Chester’s famous city walls form the most complete circuit of walls in Great Britain! Enjoy the walk as a family at your own pace, or join an expert guide who will point out all the historic highlights along the way.
Although not situated in Chester itself, Gulliver’s World is extremely popular with guests to our Chester hotels. Located in Warrington, about a 25 minute drive away, the family theme park has plenty of exciting rides and attractions suitable for all the family. There’s also the Splash Zone – an indoor water play area, perfect for those rainy days!
