Measuring over 3,300 acres, Sherwood Pines is a vast expanse of adventure forest waiting to be discovered. The largest publicly accessible forest in the East Midlands, famed for its connection with legendary outlaw Robin Hood, it is home to a huge range of activities sheltered beneath a canopy of exquisite woodland. Adventurer, nature lover or child at play, Sherwood Pines is a top East Midlands attraction, offering something for everyone.

Sherwood Pines Cycling

Cycling is the premier attraction at Sherwood pines, with a range of different trails available for all abilities. The Family Cycle Route is a 3 mile all weather loop perfect for families with small children whilst those with teenagers may consider the Adventure Cycle Trail. At just over 6 miles, the adventure trail ventures further into the beauty of the forest, perfect for half a days exploration. For those interested in more extreme off-road cycling the Kitchener Trail, named after WW1 General, Lord Kitchener, is a fast paced ride over a challenging 6 mile course. Also on offer are over 45 miles of single track to explore at leisure, as well as the Bike Park, the ultimate technical challenge for the avid off-roader.

Go Ape at Sherwood Pines

Sherwood Pines is also home to one of the country’s top Go Ape sites with Go Ape Tree Top Adventure and Go Ape Forest Segway both available. Open from February through till November, the Go Ape Tree Top Adventure is a maze of zip lines, tree swings and bridge crossings in the heart of this ancient woodland. Open to all ages from 10 upwards, the adventure course offers the perfect day out for birthdays, hen and stag do’s, corporate team building or just good old family fun. If you’d prefer to enjoy the scenery from the ground, the Go Ape Forest Segway experience is a one hour tour of Sherwood Pines’ natural beauty on an all-terrain Segway, a wonderfully alternative way to explore the trails of the forest.

Forest Live 2014

Launched in 2001 by the Forestry Commission, Forest Live is a series of annual concerts taking place across the summer at 7 Forestry Commission sites. As one of these site, Sherwood Pines is now in its 14th year of offering live music in an alternative location. This year’s Forest Live at Sherwood Pines hosts 3 top acts over 3 consecutive nights, beginning on Thursday 12th June as Boyzone take to the stage on their debut Forest Live tour. Returning star Jessie J will appear on Friday 13th, with veteran Forest Live act Paul Weller topping the bill on Saturday 14th.

Sherwood Pines also offers further activities in the way of horse riding, walking trails, orienteering, playground adventures and learning activities, as well as one off and annual events throughout the year.
