Looking for family fun days out in Scotland this summer? M&D’s Theme Park is Scotland’s premier family entertainment centre, situated in Strathclyde Country Park between Hamilton and Motherwell in Lanarkshire. More than just your average theme park, M&D’s has a range of both outdoor and indoor activities for everyone in the family to enjoy.
M&D’s boasts over 20 family friendly rides and attractions, as well as some nail biting, white knuckle rides for adventurous thrill seekers. Fly through the air on Tsunami, a corkscrew style rollercoaster, bounce over 30m high on the Bungee and swing screaming on Captain’s Curse pirate ship. For the more daring, the Tornado is the parks biggest roller coaster, a breath-taking ride along a 1000m track at 80kph, complete with furious twists, turns and loops. There’s plenty of child friendly rides from the Pirate Train to the Mini Dodgems, whilst all the family can enjoy the likes of the Big Wheel, Runaway Mine Train and the White Water flume. For a bit of a break from the twists and turns of the rollercoaster rides have a blast at Devil’s Island, the pirate themed 18-hole mini adventure golf course. Also catch the High Diving Pirates in their dare devil diving show.
Always unpredictable, if the weather starts to turn, never fear! M&D’s has plenty of undercover entertainment on offer. Cosmic Bowl is Scotland’s very first bowling alley to glow in the dark, with 16 lanes available as well as plenty of arcade games and air hockey tables. For the little ones, Krazy Congo offers a vast, multi-level soft play area to explore with ball pools, slides and chutes, cargo nets, a tree house and much more. The over 21’s can enjoy hours of undercover entertainment at Diamond Lil’s, M&D’s pool and snooker hall, complete with bar and televised major sports events. There’s also a range of bars and restaurants to suit all ages and tastes.
Scotland’s only indoor tropical rainforest, Amazonia is a fun packed, educational journey into the realms of the tropics. Meet a range of fascinating, exotic creatures such as Turbo the Red-footed Tortoise, Tootsie the Toco Toucan and Tico, the Goliath Bird Eating Tarantula. Joining these favourite characters are Marmoset monkeys, fruit bats, chameleons, parrots, pythons and many more. The park also boasts Amazonia Interactive, a digital journey into the Amazon rainforest.
The parks opening times vary throughout the season with individual hours for Amazonia, Cosmic Bowl and the bars and restaurants. For full information on opening times, as well as pricing information, visit www.scotlandsthemepark.com
