seaside

It’s reaching that time of year when a small outing or day trip to the seaside may be on the cards. If you live quite far away from the sea, or you don’t get to see it much or on the other hand you are en route to a different part of the country but want a short stopover, we’ve suggested a few places worth a visit, located near our accommodation.

Maidstone & Sevenoaks

Kent offers a huge choice of things to do, giving an ideal location to London, as well as parts of the South Coast. Kent encompasses a large coastline, featuring towns such as Margate, Ramsgate, Folkestone, Dover and a number of beaches. Whitstable Beach one of Kent’s top spots, featuring a hive of activity, culture and top food. There is a combination of stalls and shops littered throughout the area, with plenty of eateries to take your fancy, whether you enjoy seafood or something a little different. The beach also offers a great location for a mix of water sports.

Taunton

If you’re heading down to the South West of the country, Cornwall and Devon offer a great number of some of the countries most beautiful beaches. Our Taunton location gives you the ideal place to take a rest bit. Somerset is along the coastline and offers a few places to visit along the way; further up toward Bristol offers the seaside town of Weston-Super-Mare that is popular with the locals.

Durham Heritage Coast

The Durham heritage coastline stretches from Sunderland through to Hartlepool and considered one of the best shorelines in England. This area gives you a chance to see some of the best views on offer, looking out over the east. There is a 14km long coastal footpath that can be used and can be walked on or cycled on. This isn’t a seaside resort, if you’re looking for a place to eat, or amusement arcades you’re not going to get many places here, instead it offers stunning scenery and a great, natural place to soak in the atmosphere and wildlife pacing the shores.

Southampton

Although not a seaside town, Southampton offers a number of nice places to visit on the quay. With shopping centres, museums and great places to eat. Southampton frequently sees some of the world’s largest cruise ships on the docks. The Isle of Wight can be visited using a passenger ferry if you wanted to explore the area.
