If you are a bit of a foodie and have been recently inspired by the recent culinary efforts as seen on The Great British Bake Off, we’ve suggested a few places worth visiting throughout the early spring and the next couple of months. We’ve suggested a few popular places located close to our hotels in the area. 

Kendal Festival of Food - 7th-8th March 

Kendal is located next to the Lake District National Park, the area is popular for events such as the Kendal Festival of Food, offering a choice of foods, many grown and produced by locals, giving   chance to experience the best food on offer from world class chefs to local talent. A great day out and a family friendly event, it’s well worth the visit if you’re in the area. For more information look on

Budleigh Buy Local Food & Drink Festival - 13th-15th March

The Budleigh Buy Local Food & Drinks Festival is a three-day event occurring mid-march. The second Budleigh Salterton festival offers a line up of chefs and cooks, as well as including the local beer festival.

There will be local produce available from the stalls on the market, plus vegetable sculpting, craft activities, face painting and more at this family friendly event. Budleigh Salterton is located in Devon close to our Taunton accommodation.

Broadstairs Food Fest Spring Fair - 4th-6th April

The Broadstairs Food Festival is celebrating their seventh year, boasting 20,000 visitors to the area, for the local produce from the Kent independent businesses and locals. Including a wide choice of food including chutneys, breads, cheeses, ales and ciders and a wide choice of hot food stalls to keep visitors well fed.

Fun for all the family, including free Children’s Workshop mornings with a variety of activities planned including bread and pizza classes. This event is happening in East Kent along the coast, located a short from our Kent accommodation. More information can be found on their website

The Chester Food Drink And Lifestyle Festival - 4th-6th April

The Chester Food, Drink and Lifestyle festival offers a great choice to keep visitors entertained this year with over 150 food and drink producers and celebrity chef demonstrations from Simon Rimmer of Sunday Brunch, kids rides and free cooking classes. The event is taking place at Chester Racecourse.

Bakewell Food Festival – 25th-26th April

With over 50 stalls offering a mix of cookery demonstrations, food sampling and discounts, road shows and children’s rides. This year, The Bakewell Food Festival is in its fourth year. The town is famous for the Bakewell Pudding where better to hold a celebration of local and artisan produce that this beautiful gem of a town, surrounded by all that the Peak District has to offer.
